Dr. Lev-Weissberg was born in former Soviet Union and came to US at a young age with his family. He excelled in school and completed his undergraduate studies in three years at University of Illinois, graduating with highest distinction in Biological Sciences, minor in history and chemistry. After entering medical school at University of Illinois Chicago Campus, Dr. Lev-Weissberg took interest in primary care. In medical school, he excelled academically and earned recognition by being selected to receive a prestigious General Assembly Scholarship for total tuition in his final year of medical school. He graduated in the top 25% of medical students at UIC-COM. Dr. Lev-Weissberg, completed his residency in internal medicine at Lutheran General hospital, earning numerous awards . Dr. Lev-Weissberg presented multiple times at the regional and national level. Dr. Lev-Weissberg has numerous clinical interests including sleep disorders, metabolism and diabetes, rheumatologic diseases, psychosomatic disorders. He is actively studying the role of glucagon-related-peptide in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome and sleep apnea. True to his interest in medical education, Dr. Lev-Weissberg teaches UIC students and Lutheran General Hospital Residents, as well as nurse practitioner students from across the country. He has a rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Illinois. Dr. Lev-Weissberg was appointed a chairman of medication safety committee and actively serves on Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. He is active in resident recruitment and selection process at Lutheran General Hospital.
