Autoimmune thyroiditis Part 1 - Kent Holtorf, MD (2021 Conference) (LDN, low dose naltrexone)

Autoimmune thyroiditis has a core of hypothalamic pituitary dysfunction, mitochondrial dysfunction, obesity and systemic illness. Everything's interconnected. If you just have Hashimoto’s, you have you have multi system disease. Dr. Holtorf’s goals from this 3-part lectures is to understand thyroid physiology, including central hypothyroidism, local control of thyroid hormones, autoimmunity, thyroid transport and how these are affected by chronic illness.

The most common form of hypothyroidism is not Hashimoto’s. it's one of the least common but the only one typically detected. The way hypothyroidism is diagnosed and treated in this country is wrong. Standard blood tests miss 50-90% of patients with low thyroid. A normal TSH does not mean you have a normal thyroid. Dr. Holtorf presents the physiology of thyroid hormones, the effects of any health stressors, and a series of studies to explain this. Fixing immune dysfunction is critical to recovery.
