Can you take a half dose of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) twice a day?
Pharmacist Stephen Dickson, LDN Specialist
In response to Naomi, you stated that once daily LDN is already intermittent due to washout. Might that imply that a better strategy is to half the current dose twice a day?
That's absolutely not what you should do because you need a washout period. Taking half the dose twice a day will actually completely remove your washout period because you'll always have some LDN in your system. Because if you think it's like a graph, so it goes like this, you take your LDN, it's absorbed quickly, and then it's gradually removed by the body over a period of time until there's none left or not very much left. If you start that and only take half the dose, it goes down half the way; then you take the dose again, it comes back up again and you'll do that constantly. So you'll never be clear of LDN from your body. Twice-a-day dosing is really for specialist cases only. Although it's a sensible question, you would be removing washout together.
