Does Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) work for short-term pain relief?
Does LDN work for short -term pain relief? And this person said that they had side effects. They were all for that to stop. I typically tell patients that LDN is not an analgesic. Its not like Tylenol or Motrin or Percocet where you kind of pop the pill, so to speak. And then an hour later, your headache is gone. There are some people who do get an analgesic response to it. And I think that probably has to do with that anti-inflammatory action. But its not universal. What's more typical is that it takes a while to kind of start putting a lid on the inflammation, as well as balancing that endorphin rebound.
So, are there cases of patients who get immediate relief with LDN? Yes. I've heard of them and I do have some patients, but again, its very uncommon.
