Does PRP help with EDS?
I think sometimes it helps. PRP is platelet-rich-plasma injections and stem cells are usually not actually stem cells, but cell-based injections and prolotherapy is a mixture of dextrose and saline that can be injected into different areas of the body to try to stimulate healing. I think that PRP and prolotherapy can be beneficial in selected people and especially in non-weight-bearing joints and sometimes in the smaller joints like in the hands.
We also have to take into consideration costs and potential complications and things that cell-based injections especially, if it actually is a stem cell and they're actually doing a bone marrow aspiration, then obviously that has its own potential risks. We did talk about this in our paper and basically we need data. We really don't have enough information about whether or not that is helpful.
