How do I know when to increase the dose of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)?
When I coach patients on how to find a Goldilocks dose, start low every two weeks or so you kind of go up on the dose and then I usually tell people that at a really low dose usually most patients, unless they’re really sensitive to LDN, don't recognize a benefit at a really low dose. And then you know you titrate up, titrate up, titrate up and then at some point it starts kicking in so to speak. Usually around maybe three milligrams for most patients and then you go a higher dose you know you get a better response you go to a higher dose get a better response and then you go to a higher dose and then the response starts to wane and that's how you know you've gone too far from my experience.
I mean other ways is side effects; you know tolerance things like that that's a little bit different than kind of finding the Goldilocks dose you know usually people who have things like Lyme disease, mast cell disorder, EDS those patients in general tend to be a lot more sensitive to LDN and need a little bit more handholding when it comes to finding the dose so that that information doesn't necessarily apply to those and those patients need to be kind of individualized in terms of the dosing.
