Is Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Useful in Treating Acne?

Is Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) when used systemically or topically helpful for acne? I've not really used it much in acne patients.  The pathology with acne could benefit from the anti-inflammatory effects I think but it would only address the inflammation.  It's not going to address the  other mechanisms involved in acne. If the patient's got a propensity to an inflamed GI tract and you can get them to change their diet, which is difficult with teenagers, but if you can get them to change their diet and you could use the LDN it would help repair the GI tract.  Anytime you can do that you're going to decrease the inflammatory process because the gut skin connection is real and it's very real with the microbiota as well in acne patients.  I think it could be like a peripheral benefit for acne but I don't know that it's going to be a mainstay for therapy by any means.

Do I have recommendations for acne?  Yeah I for things other than Naltrexone like I mentioned before yes but in terms of use of Low Dose Naltrexone or topical Naltrexone for acne I do not.
