Dr. Sarah Zielsdorf, MD, MS:
Low dose naltrexone is used off label and we use it for reproductive health. Clinically it has shown many benefits. Um it's very beneficial for use of LDN in pregnancy and we use it for the following conditions. Anything autoimmune or autoimmune disease recur history of recurrent miscarriage meaning more than one miscarriage. Endometriosis and adenomiiosis. Polycystic ovarian syndrome and evidence of clinical endorphin deficiency, premenstrual premenstrual syndrome, fatigue, low mood, anxiety and brown bleeding.
For endometriosis and adenomiosis, low dose naltrexone is one of our most powerful and important treatments. It has myriad benefits and a low sod side effect profile. It helps to modulate the immune system. It downregulates inflammation or reduces it. It resets pain receptors. It reduces the use of multiple drugs or polyfarm pharmacy. And it reduces both opioid and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory use.
Low dose naltrexone is well tolerated and we're using it of course off label. It has low side effect profile. A questionnaire for mothers in 2016 revealed no complications in LDN treated mothers babies including they looked at birth weight prematurity and they showed that there was no need for NICU.
