Should I take Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Indefinitely?
Answered by Pharmacist Sam Lebsock
Is it okay to take LDN indefinitely? Yes, a lot of patients take it indefinitely.
I always tell the same story. As people have been taking it for two years and then all of a sudden they're like everything's fine. I don't need LDN anymore. I'm not going to get a refill. Normally about two to three months later they call back and refill their prescription. Because they had a flare. That is very very common because they don't even realize how much it's been helping them since they've been taking it so long. It helps.
It's kind of like an immune modulator. It helps keep things checked and so when everything's good you shouldn't notice, right? Everything should just be going around your daily routine. Often people think that they don't need it and then we always see them come back around.
