Should you take Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) more than once a day for long Covid?
My pharmacist said I should never take it more than once. And I could go up to 10 mg for long COVID. Wondering if you agree with these statements as they seem to go against what I've read in the LDN book volume three and have any advice are you dosing for long COVID?
So, more isn't necessarily better. That's what I will say about Low Dose Naltrexone. More isn't necessarily better. The tough part is that with long COVID, that symptom list can be quite long, right?
So a lot of times it's fatigue, foggy thinking, sometimes pain, sometimes it's a change in taste or smell. Increasing your dose isn't necessarily always best. Sometimes decreasing your dose is better.
But when we're dealing with long COVID, it's not necessarily just LDN. A lot of times we will use supportive therapy in nutraceuticals or supplements that are available over the counter. And in this case, taking Low Dose Naltrexone more than once a day for long COVID, I think once a day dosing is quite fine.
I don't think that there's any necessary reason to take it more than once. But using statements of you should “never” kind of puts people in a box and down a certain pathway and we immediately bounce off of that and say, why?
You know, why? Well, the why is because when we use Low Dose Naltrexone more than once a day, sometimes we can actually decrease its ability to do its natural work when we're dealing with autoimmune issues.
Now, long COVID is a virus-started process and there's a lot of inflammation surrounding that. What we have found is that if we're going to go after inflammation, usually once a day is plenty. So again, I would say once a day is just fine.
