Stephen Dickson. BSC (hons), MRPharmS - Using An Old Drug To Trick The Immune System (2017 Conference) (LDN, low dose naltrexone)

In this presentation Stephen Dickson talks about the history, pharmacology and clinical guidelines of Low Dose Naltrexone.

Stephen Dickson goes from the very early days of opium discovery and the inherent problems with pure opium to the need for better pain management during the war and the eventual development of what came to be known as morphine in a synthetic form.  At this stage there was a better understanding of the opiate system in the body.

He then goes into naloxone discovery and then to naltrexone and its uses and benefits and its action in the body.

He discusses homeostasis and how blocking the opiate receptors forces the body to adjust the endorphins thereby returning it to a homeostatic state.

He then concludes with the benefits of Low Dose Naltrexone for controlling cell proliferation and for modulating the immune system in various autoimmune disease states.

A very interesting presentation that aids in the understanding of the discovery of Low Dose Naltrexone and how LDN works in the body.
