Are there herbs or supplements to fight or protect against COVID that are contraindicated if you have an autoimmune disease?
Only if you overdose them or you use too much of them. We don't want to hyper build the immune system. In the first slide I referenced my book Max Your Immunity, which you can get on Amazon cheaper than I can give it to you wholesale; but it's paperback, and it actually goes through the fact that you don't want to make a hyper immune state. You don't want people on immune builders forever. That's not the idea. The idea is to help the gut be healthy, help the patient be healthy, control their blood sugar, have them lose weight.
One of my regular patients thought “Oh, I don't need to have a vaccine” and I said, “You know what? You need to have a vaccine because you have a disease”. “Because I'm 39 I don't need a vaccine.” I said, “Well, you know, not everybody does at 39, but you do you have a disease.” And so we kind of went round and round, and I finally said, “Look, you're one of my favorite patients, but you have a disease. It's called obesity, and that is a risk factor for Covid.” He spent his 40th birthday in the ICU. The only reason, honestly, I think he is alive, is because he was on four months of oxygen. The only reason he's alive is probably because he was on LDN for his weight loss before all this started. And I hate to say it, but his mother snuck the LDN into the ICU, and they wouldn't let him because they gave him steroids. You can use LDN and steroids together. In fact, if you use LDN, the amount of steroids people need is less, and some people won't need steroids. But in the hospital, all the protocols are steroids. He did finally very well; after four months, he is pretty much fine now, but it varies from patient to patient so anything that you would use too long would be problematic.
