Is there a connection between Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) and Colitis?
There have been some patients who have developed colitis when starting the medication. They are better and still loving the LDN, but wasn't sure if there's a correlation of this, but was wondering if these are potentially linked to the mechanism of LDN.
People with chronic issues can overexpress opiate receptors in their large intestine or in fact small intestine as well. I think it is a case of a waiting game to see whether it goes down on its own, or whether you need to move to sublingual preparation to avoid first fast metabolism and avoid direct contact between naltrexone and those receptors.
