What are the options for splitting the dose of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)to treat Sjogrens and Lupus?
I've been on LDN for five years. Wow, this is cool. Dr. gave me a 4.5 liquid, which I raised in times of flares and then returned to 4.5. I take it in the morning as my sleep is disrupted if I take it at night. He started me on a tablet, that didn't work so I went to liquid, it works in the morning but I still get pain at night. I have Sjogren's and Lupus and it's been awesome for neurological pain.
You might do well with a small second dose of bedtime. So if you're taking 4.5 in the morning, you could consider taking 1.5mg at bedtime just to kind of see how that works for you at night. That way you're not going to have that sleep disturbance because we don't want that huge endorphin rush. That's an option. Or you could even split the dose and take it closer to 5:00 in the evening to 6:00 because like I said, it's about 4 to 5 hours after your dose that you have those endorphins. So if you take it at 5 or 6 at night, you're looking at 10 or 11 and it may not disrupt sleep.
Or you can take a much significantly lower dose as a secondary dose and see how that works for you at bedtime. But very cool. I'm glad you're so flexible and I'm thrilled your doctor listened to you and said, hey, the pills aren't working, let's try a liquid again. That could be an absorption characteristic, that could be a compounding characteristic.
