What are some favorite Mast Cell stabilizing supplements?
Definitely quercetin, Q-U-E-R-C-E-T-I-N is one that I use quite frequently. Of course, we also need to think about over-the-counter medications, H1 and H2 blockers also first. And identifying triggers.
The idea with the identifying triggers is not necessarily to avoid all of those things for the rest of your life, but to get the mast cells more stable so that way we can be exposed to some of these things because we don't want to be putting people in plastic bubbles, especially if we don't have to.
So quercetin is one that I definitely like. Vitamin C is another one that I definitely like. I work on getting their vitamin D level in an appropriate range. That's very important. Magnesium is also important for pain, mood, and sleep, and can help with that.
Those are kind of the ones that I usually start with, and we want to be careful because of the whole excipient issue and everything like that. So again, less is more and we want to start things one at a time. Palmitoylethanolamide is another one, abbreviated PEA, and that can be helpful as well.
