It highlights how gut dysbiosis, characterized by an imbalance in beneficial and pathogenic bacteria, contributes to inflammation and tumorigenesis. The crucial interaction between the gut microbiome and the host immune system is also discussed, emphasizing its role in modulating cancer progression.
Another factor that impacts Lynch syndrome and potentially causes these uh epigenetic changes um is the microbiome. So research on the microbiome specifically in Lynch syndrome has indicated that alterations in the composition of the gut microbiota likely influence the development and progression of colarctal cancer in people with Lynch syndrome. Studies have shown that gut disbiosis contributes to inflammation and tumorogenesis in Lynch syndrome. Specifically, research has also shown that specific changes in the gut microbiome such as decreased diversity or overabundance of unhealthy bacteria um or potentially pathogenic bacteria being present at less than infection levels but enough to cause uh detrimental changes to the immune system. have been observed in people that have Lynch syndrome and that these changes are observed in Lynch syndrome patients compared to healthy individuals. They've also shown that the gut microbiome interacts with the host immune system and that this is an important regulatory role of inflammation and carcinogenesis in Lynch syndrome. Also, the gut microbiome is is important in how the immune system responds to cancer or the development of cancer. The microbiome is important for DNA repair mechanisms and the production of metabolites that potentially influence tumor development. So the microbiome is having broad impact in both development and progression of cancer and specifically of cancer in Lynch syndrome patients.
