What is the Role of Homocysteine and Cardiovascular Disease?

What is the role of homocysteine and cardiovascular disease?  Well it seems to be an independent risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease and having cardiovascular events and cerebral vascular events. I think supplying the substrate that allows homocysteine to be within the normal range is important.   I think that's the best thing that can be said about homocysteine.
