What is the Shelf Life of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)?
Good point. What is the shelf life of an open bottle of LDN sublingual drops? That is a really great question. That has everything to do with the base. It has everything to do with the base. In the United States, we have to abide by rules and shelf life beyond States expressed by the guidelines in the USP or United States Pharmacopoeia and the base. If it is a water-soluble base or if there is water content of the base over 0.6 percent, then we have to give it a shelf life of about 30 to 35 days. If it is an oil base, like MCT, olive oil, or almond oil, several other oils can be used, too. We give it a much longer, beyond-use date, which is usually has a number of about 180 days. Of course, the other countries are going to have different rulings and different specialties with that.
Stephen, we're very much the same as you. It's actually quite similar, which would make sense, I suppose, because the physical laws are the physical laws. I think we're 28 days for an open bottle, and generally, because most of our solutions would be aqueous, just because that's what the formulas are for.
Reach out to your compounding pharmacy, and they'll be able to give you the exact date on your bottle. The date should be printed on the bottle.
