When using Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) how do you know if you found your sweet spot?
The sweet spot has been sort of the nickname for where you get to and you have all the benefits, but none of the side effects. So, when people ask me this, I go back to when we very first started doing LDN. We worked with a doctor called Tom Gogaline, and I'm sure some people on here were probably originally prescribed by Dr Tom in Glasgow all those years ago. He had a great description for it. You've reached your ceiling when you start to feel flat, drop back down and gradually push away through the barrier until you get to the point where you're having benefits without feeling flat.
If you've never experienced the flat feeling, then that's great. Most people don't, but that was at the point where we were still pushing up and up and up into the sort of 20 milligrams per day, trying to find where the sweet spot was for people, gradually getting to the point where 4.5 was what really worked for most. The sweet spot is really when you are getting benefits, but you're not having any side effects. That's really the simplest answer. And it can be different for everyone. I would say it's between three and a half and four and a half, or three and four and a half for the majority of patients. So 99% plus their sweet spot will be three or 4.5 or somewhere in there.
