Will Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Help with Large and Small Fiber Neuropathy?
Will LDN help with nerve symptoms in small fiber neuropathy?
Again, from Sjogrens syndrome, we see a number of patients. It's a relatively rare condition, so correlating the number of people with Sjogrens who have also taken LDN is easy. With that condition and nerve pain, a lot of people are taking LDN and taking it for a long time. I don't think they'd be taking it for a long time unless they receive benefits. It should work in a similar way to when it works for chronic regional pain syndrome or general neuropathic pain, which we know about, and there's quite a lot of information on the LDN Research Trust about that. As with everything, if you've tried everything else and you're still having pain from small fiber neuropathy, there's no reason not to try LDN just to see, because it might work, might not, but you'll not be any worse.
What about LDN for large fiber neuropathy?
For any nerve neuropathies, it's possible you might get a benefit from LDN because of the general anti-inflammatory effect. We can't guarantee it, especially if there are large areas of nerve damage. However, if you try everything else and nothing else is working, there's no reason not to try LDN in the first three to six months and see if you get better.
