Dr. Saleeby is a 1991 graduate with a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta Georgia. Upon completion of post-graduate training at East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, he had a two decade career in Emergency Medicine serving Emergency Departments in NC, SC and GA. He held leadership positions as medical director in his career. In addition, he pursued training in functional and age-management medicine since 1998. Currently, he practices holistic integrative and functional medicine in North & South Carolina at Carolina Holistic Medicine.
From 2000 until 2006 he was appointed as co-medical director of the Emergency Department at Liberty Regional Medical Center, Hinesville, GA. In 2007 he was promoted to medical director of the Emergency Department at Marlboro Park Hospital in Bennettsville, SC until 2010. Dr. Saleeby also served for two years as medical director for the South Carolina Urban Search & Rescue Task Force-1 (USAR-TF-1). He is a member of ILADS an organization that treats Lyme disease and associated tick-borne chronic illness. Dr. Saleeby is also a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and AARM (a restorative medicine organization). He has also been a past member of A4M, ACAM and the American Telehealth Association.
Dr. Saleeby was a medical advisory on the board for both the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and Beachbody (P90X- Shakeology). During the past decade he has formulated original sports enhancement and dietary supplements for a number of companies. He was co-founder of the self-monitoring and testing company Zimetry launched in 2015. In 2018 he founded the Priority Health Academy (a non-profit organization) dedicated to provider education and training. Annual symposiums are offered mid-July of each year for focused training, lectures and demos on subjects in Integrative, Holistic & Functional Medicine.
In 2006 Dr. Saleeby authored a book on specialty medicinal herbs entitled: “Wonder Herbs: A Guide to Three Adaptogens” (Xlibris, 2006) and is a featured speaker on nutrition and adaptogen herbs in the region. Dr. Saleeby is a contributor to the Life Extension Foundation’s 5th Edition Disease Prevention & Treatment tome (2013). He contributed a chapter in a book on Hypothyroidism Stop the Thyroid Madness II (Laughing Grape, 2014). He was a contributing editor for American Fitness magazine for almost a decade. An avid medical blogger, he also writes on health/medical and travel articles for regional and national publications. Dr. Saleeby received his press credentials as a journalist for AMD in early 2013.
Additionally, his interests as an Am. Civil War historian, member of the Society of Civil War Surgeons, and National Museum of Civil War Medicine, gives him the opportunity to lectures on medicine & surgery during the “War between the States” and physician luminaries of the time. He lectures on Dr. Hunter H. McGuire (CSA), Dr. Simon Baruch (CSA), Dr. Joseph Letterman (USA), Dr. Wm. A. Hammond (USA), and Dr. Frances P. Porcher (CSA). Dr. Saleeby displays a collection of medical antiques and books dating c.100 AD through the mid-1950’s. He lectured at the 2015 Annual meeting at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Fredrick, MD and present on Dr. Francis P. Procher (CSA) and his work in herbal medicine.
A competitive swimmer in college, he has tried his hand at Luge in Lake Placid under the coaching of US National team athletes for a couple of years; he enjoyed several years training with Team Savannah Olympic Style Lifting team and competed in National Masters Olympic Style Weightlifting & the Georgia Olympic Games in the mid-2000’s, achieving national silver medal ranking in 2003 & 2004 and Gold in the Georgia Games in 2002. He had the opportunity to oar (row) a Greek Trireme (replica of a 120-foot ancient warship) on the Aegean Sea and on the Thames River in London in the early 1990s as part of an American contingent of rowers, he also served as the crew’s assistant medical officer. He is married with 2 children and enjoys travel, gastronomic opportunities, history, astrophysics, fine art and European sports cars. He is considered a visionary and futurist in respects to the new paradigm of healthcare delivery and medicine.
